An annual mountain report highlighting the changes in Canada’s alpine environment.

The State of the Mountains Report is a commitment by The Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) to provide accessible, current, and accurate information about the forces that affect Canadian mountain places, ecosystems, and communities. The 2023 edition includes essays on Indigenous guiding, balancing visitation and traffic on Moraine Lake Road in Banff National Park, sustainability and the Sea to Sky Gondola, Castleguard Cave, Living Lakes Canada, the Mount Meager Volcano Project, hydrology in the Yukon and more.

The report features the Mountain Sustainability Education Programme, a course that was developed in collaboration with Sea to Sky Gondola, GEO Mountains, the Mountain Research Initiative, the University of Calgary, and the Arctic Institute of North America.
