The MRI Mountain Social-Ecological Futures Working Group Workshop is scheduled for 21 June 2024, during the World Biodiversity Forum 2024 at the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos, Switzerland.
Established in 2023, the Mountain Social-Ecological Futures Working Group aims to exchange innovative ideas to imagine and shape new responses to the ongoing unprecedented climate-driven social-ecological changes in mountain areas. Additionally, it seeks to create an urgently needed community of practice for proactively managing these new resources in a sustainable manner.
This workshop aims to define a roadmap for achieving these objectives by taking stock of the pertinent issues and deliberating on a position paper prepared by the Working Group co-leads.
Please note that the workshop has a strict limit on the number of participants, and it is essential to register to receive an invitation from the organizing committee. Priority will be given to individuals who are already members of the Working Group and interested participants from the Global South, as well as those attending the World Biodiversity Forum. Some funding support will be available.
