Assistant Project Officer
Mountain Research Initiative
About
Alice Scott, a British national currently living in Germany, joined the Mountain Research Initiative in 2023 after completing a Masters in Sustainable Mountain Development. Prior to this, Alice was working in tourism research and supply chain marketing in Germany, and also has experience of working in hotels in the Austrian ski resorts of Sölden and Saalbach-Hinterglemm.
As an Assistant Project Officer, she supports the coordination office’s communication efforts. Her favourite part of the job is seeing different mountain research and development opportunities arise such as events and job listings, as well as contributing to writing blog posts.
Alice completed her Masters in MSc Sustainable Mountain Development at the University of the Highlands and Islands in 2022, and has a Bachelors in BA (Hons) Hospitality Management with Tourism from the University of Portsmouth which she completed in 2019. Her specialisation is mountain tourism. Recently, Alice also created a social media account called Alpine Society, to make content about sustainable mountain tourism for those who have an interest in, or have little knowledge of, tourism in mountainous areas. In her spare time, Alice enjoys being in the mountains, figure skating (previously competitively but now as a hobby), hiking, and being out in nature.
