Project: Thematic Center on Mountain Ecosystem & Remote sensing, Deep learning-AI e-Services University of Granada-Sierra Nevada

This project aims to incorporate all existing sources of information (including scientific outputs and technical data) on biodiversity and global change in Sierra Nevada, through a long-term physical and virtual European e-infrastructure for research and monitoring that allows to optimize adaptive conservation and ecosystems service supply of mountain ecosystems.

Contract: Full-time from Jan 2022 until 30 June 2023 (possible extension until May 2025)

Gross salary: 2500 EUR/month Center/Work facilities: University of Granada (IISTA, Sierra Nevada Global Change Observatory)

Job tasks:

  • Workshop organization and multi-actor communication across sectors (academy, business and governmental) for the quantification of ecosystem services through the development of socio-cultural approaches, including the design and administration of social questionnaires and participatory mapping, and respective data analysis
  • Meta-analysis and systematic literature reviews, namely through the use of standard scientific protocols and search engines such as Scopus and ISI web of knowledge
  • Writing of scientific publications in the peer-reviewed system, alongside public dissemination and communication activities (including conference attendance and participation) 

Main educational requirements:

  • PhD in social sciences, environmental sciences (multidisciplinary), biology or similar areas
  • Fluent (oral and written) in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge or experience with participatory and deliberative approaches, and workshop and survey development
  • Training or proven experience in the compilation, database management and statistical analysis of both environmental and social information

Additional training merits:

  • Good knowledge of issues pertaining to ecosystem services
  • Knowledge of socialecological research and human-nature interactions
  • Participation/involvement in projects related to the management of natural capital and/or ecosystem services accounting
  • Experience with R and Excel 

Main experience in:

  • Participation/involvement in projects related to the development and application of environmental economics and accounting
  • Production of technical reports and international scientific publications
  • Collaborations with international teams and/or research projects
