INARCH, a global collaborative research initiative in mountain hydrology, will be holding its third annual workshop at the Environmental Research Station Schneefernerhaus (UFS), and will provide an opportunity for scientists to explore and discuss those specific issues in mountain snow and ice hydrology highlighted in the inaugural INARCH workshop in Kananaskis in October 2015 and during the course of the second annual workshop in Grenoble in 2016.
The deadline for registration is 15 December 2015.

The international, peer-reviewed journal Mountain Research and Development (MRD), in collaboration with MRI, has issued a call for papers for a focus issue on 'Adaptation to Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Mountains.'
Through this focus issue, MRD and MRI aim to present systematically assessed novel practices and well-researched insights into the implications of climate change, while also contributing to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 6th Assessment Report.

Why do citizens collaborate? What is their motivation to volunteer? Are they developing a deeper interest and engagement in science?
These and other questions will be at the heart of the Second International European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) Conference 2018, which will take place 3-6 June in Geneva, Switzerland. Submissions for session proposals are open until 10 January 2018.

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) invites early career researchers to participate in its innovative social media outreach mentoring and internship project.The GLF aims to accelerate action towards the creation of more resilient, equitable, profitable, productive, and healthy landscapes, and towards the achievement of the UNFCCC Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030).
As part of this, it has developed its Youth Ambassador Program, which is open to students or young professionals up to the age of 35 who are eager to learn more about online/social media and are interested, working in, or studying agriculture, environment, or sustainable development. All participants will be closely involved in supporting online media outreach for the GLF, while working in different languages and using a variety of tools and platforms.

The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification is inviting experts to apply to become members and observers of its Science-Policy Interface (SPI).
Established in 2013, the SPI aims to promote dialogue between scientists and policy-makers on desertification, land degradation, and drought - all of which pose a severe threat to mountain regions.
Applications close 4 December 2017.

Thinking Mountains is a triennial interdisciplinary mountain studies summit that promotes dialogue about mountain places, peoples, and activities.
Thinking Mountains 2018 will take place in the heart of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, 2-5 October, and submissions for sessions, papers, posters, and side meetings are now invited. The summit will provide opportunities to meet established authors, researchers, and experts in mountain studies, along with those who are new to the field.
