For the third time, the Swiss Academy of Sciences is organizing a national conference on research within the framework 'Park Research Switzerland.' The aim of the conference is to show which topics are currently being investigated in parks of national importance and UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Switzerland in order to reflect on the practice and to identify research gaps.
The conference is aimed at all researchers and individuals working in parks and UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as persons from federal and cantonal offices, non-governmental organizations, and environmental and planning offices.
Please note that although the call is in German and French, submissions are also accepted in English.

In 2020 the Convention on Biological Diversity will adopt a post-2020 global biodiversity framework as a stepping stone towards the 2050 Vision of 'Living in harmony with nature.' In its decision 14/34, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity adopted a comprehensive and participatory process for the preparation of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework – with input now being invited.

A one-week training course will be organised in the framework of the H2020 EU-funded project Social Innovation in Marginalised Rural Areas at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza, 18-22 November 2019, to address the importance of social innovation in less favoured rural areas.
Social innovation has been heralded as a vital part of the European recovery project since the economic crisis in 2008. It is of particular importance to rural areas, especially more disadvantaged rural areas, where multiple problems of depopulation, environmental quality decline, and low levels of economic activity have been recurrent. With the trend of rapid urbanisation, the remoter rural areas will continue to be adversely affected.

The Chilean Society of the Cryosphere (SOCHICRI – Sociedad Chilena de la Criósfera) Annual Meeting 2019 will take place in the city of La Serena, 9-10 May 2019. Entitled Alpine Water – Common Good or Source of Conflicts?, the proceedings of the ForumAlpinum 2018 contain abstracts of all the event's presentations and posters dealing with questions of water use in the Alpine region and exploring foreseeable future water use conflicts, as well as measures to avoid them. Among the editors is MRI Chair Rolf Weingartner, and the publication includes a summary of his keynote speech on 'Analysing Alpine Water-Related Hotspots: Setting the Ground.'
