Mountains 2018 will take place in Nova Friburgo, Brazil, 10-14 December, and will bring together international scholars, professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders involved with multiple aspects of the mountain world.

The purpose of this call for presentations is to allow for the exchange of experiences of sustainable development in mountain environments in all relevant areas – including agroecology, agriculture, climate change, rural tourism, forest, water, community and territories, ecosystem services, public policies, land use, and other related perspectives.

The Mountains 2018 conference itself will consist of two events:
  1. III Workshop on Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions
The workshop will focus on practical experiences related to sustainable development in mountain regions, gathering professionals and other stakeholders actively working towards this urgent goal.

  2. II International Conference on Research for Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions
The conference will discuss issues related to scientific research and perspectives to enhance and disseminate knowledge about mountains, gathering researchers and other professionals interested in the topic.
This call for presentations applies to the III Workshop on Sustainable Development in Mountain Environments.  Presentation proposals will be selected by the Mountains 2018 organizing committee based on adherence to the Mountains 2018 key themes, relevance, and originality.

Successful proposals will be allocated a time of ten minutes per presentation during the event, plus five minutes for a Q&A session. Simultaneous translations (English, Spanish, and Portuguese) will be provided during the presentations.

Proposals should be max 3,000 characters, written in English, and submitted as a Word file (in the font Times New Roman, font size 12, spacing 1.5).
