annapurna 2376966 1280 200x150Abstract submission is now open for Mountains 2018, an exciting platform for knowledge exchange and discussion on the topic of sustainable development in mountain regions. 

Mountains 2018 takes place in Nova Friburgo, Brazil, 10-14 December, and will bring together international scholars, professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders involved with multiple aspects of the mountain world.

The event seeks to stimulate debate and disseminate knowledge about sustainable development in mountain territories, including how mountains can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. 

Mountains 2018 will be organized as follows:

  1. III Workshop on Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions
    The workshop will focus on practical experiences related to sustainable development in mountain regions, gathering professionals and other stakeholders actively working towards this urgent goal.

  2. II International Conference on Research for Sustainable Development in Mountain Regions
    The conference will discuss issues related to scientific research and perspectives to enhance and disseminate knowledge about mountains, gathering researchers and other professionals interested in the topic.
Abstracts of a maximum of 250 words (in English) are sought on one of the event's 24 interesting and varied symposium themes, from climate change adaptation to agriculture and art. New themes can also be submitted for the open session. 

Organized by institutions from Brazil, Portugal, and Scotland, Mountains 2018 has the support of several national and international organizations related to mountain research - including the Mountain Research Initiative. 

The deadline for abstract submissions is 31 May.
