The cryosphere plays an important role in regulating the climate and earth systems, especially through feedback impacting water, energy, and material flows. As a result, issues related to cryospheric changes have received increasing attention in recent years, leading to more research, including the effects of interactions among earth system components and the role of the cryosphere in constraining sustainable pathways of adaptation to change.
With this in mind, the workshop Cryospheric Changes & Their Regional & Global Impacts aims to:
- Review and advance our understanding of changes in the cryosphere as well as their environmental, social and economic implications
- Foster knowledge exchange in modelling and assessing such changes
- Assess and improve approaches in risk mitigation and adaption to the changing cryosphere
- Shed light on the role of the cryosphere in the context of sustainability for the benefit of our future earth.
