A new award seeks to promote the work of early-career researchers into mountain areas and cryospheric processes. 

The Complutense University of Madrid's research group Physical Geography in High Mountains and the Guadarrama Monitoring Network have opened a call for applicants for the 'Young Researcher Innovation Award in Cryosphere Science and Mountain Areas.' 

In order to be considered for the award, early-career researchers must present an original, unpublished work in research article format. Winning papers will be published in two special issues of the scientific journal Cuadernos de Investigación Geográfica/Geographical Research Letters.

Research topics should be in one of two main fields:

• Cryosphere Science (glaciology, permafrost, snow cover, frozen soils, glacial and periglacial geomorphology, biological processes in frozen areas, etc).
• Research on Mountain Areas (meteorology, climatology, tectonics, geomorphology, volcanism, soils, biogeography, torrential dynamics, natural hazards, geoheritage, management issues, territorial planning, etc).

Deadline is 1 September 2018.
