Mountains 101­­ is a free interdisciplinary 12-lesson Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) providing a comprehensive overview of Mountain Studies.  The course was developed by David Hik and Zac Robinson at the University of Alberta, in partnership with Parks Canada and the Alpine Club of Canada.   It focuses on the physical, biological and human dimensions of mountain places in Alberta, Canada, and around the world.  Since the course launched in January 2017, over 14,000 students from 140 countries have registered, and new sessions begin on the first Monday of each month.  The course is open for everyone and there is no cost to enrol.  Register now on Coursera (https://www.coursera.org/learn/mountains-101/).  More information is available from University of Alberta (http://uab.ca/mountains), on Facebook (www.fb.com/mountains101) and Twitter (@UAlbertaMTN101).
