early career researchers mountain 1920The International Association for Cryospheric Sciences is soliciting nominations for its Early Career Scientist Award. The deadline for nominations is 1 March 2019.

The International Association for Cryospheric Sciences (IACS) Early Career Scientist (ECS) Award is a cash prize of €1000 that is awarded to two early career scientists who have published the best scientific papers on a cryospheric subject as assessed by an independent evaluation committee.

Nominations can be submitted by anyone except the nominee themselves. The nominee must be an early career scientist, defined as a person who is currently enrolled in a PhD/MSc program or whose highest academic degree (PhD, MSc) was obtained no longer than 2 years before the submission deadline.

Nominated papers should present novel ideas, concepts, theories, or methods. Papers presenting results using existing established methods, papers producing evidence to support an existing theory, or papers presenting new data or observations without presenting novel ideas/concepts/theories/methods will be judged less favorably.

Only papers published in international peer-reviewed journals with a doi (printed or online) between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2018 will be considered.

All submissions will be acknowledged. The nomination deadline is 1 March 2019.

The Selection Committee will announce the winner in late March 2019, and the 2018 Prize will be formally presented at the IUGG conference in Montreal 9-13 July.
