The MRI Expert Database has served as a useful tool for connection and collaboration for the mountain research community for many years. It comprises thousands of profiles of people involved in mountain research, management, governmental and non-governmental institutions, and the private sector.

The new MRI Expert Database builds on the strong foundations that were already in place, while offering updated features such as improved search functionality and data privacy.

The MRI has migrated personal profiles from the old database, which was hosted by ProClim at SCNAT. Now, we are asking our online community of mountain experts for their consent to be part of the new database, hosted by us. For more information about how we collect and store data, please consult our Privacy Policy.

Members of the old MRI Expert Database will receive an email containing a link to log in to the new database using a new username and password. Once logged in, members can update their profile information and give permission for it to be displayed publicly on the MRI website in order to facilitate connection and collaboration with other members of the mountain research community.

Please note: other users of the Find An Expert search tool will not be able to view or search for your profile unless you give permission for it to be publicly visible.

If you are a member of the MRI Expert Database and did not receive an email invitation (be sure to check your spam folder), or if you have any other feedback about the new database, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We can update your email address if it has changed, and assist you with updating your profile.

As an MRI Expert Database member, you will not only have the opportunity to connect with colleagues worldwide but also be entitled to participate in future MRI Synthesis Workshop calls, among other benefits. Furthermore, the MRI Coordination Office will be able to identify and connect with suitable expertise, and recommend you for opportunities such as communication campaigns; consultancies; data contributions; inputs to assessments (e.g., IPCC); expert reviews; media requests for mountain research expertise; project participation; proposal bids; or speaking engagements.

If you would like to join the MRI Expert Database as a new member, please sign up here.

The MRI Coordination Office would like to thank the MRI community for providing input on the design of the new system and the team at ungleich for developing it! We look forward to welcoming you to our new MRI Expert Database, and hope that you will find its improvements useful as you continue to make connections for our changing mountains.
