A dedicated session on Mountain Weather and Climate (UP2.5) will be held as part of the EMS Annual Meeting 2026, taking place from 7–11 September 2026 in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The session provides a platform for researchers to exchange on recent advances in understanding atmospheric processes in mountain regions, spanning multiple spatial and temporal scales.
Contributions are invited on a wide range of topics, including numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, regional climate modelling, and observational approaches, as well as applications in areas such as hydrology, air quality, wildfire dynamics, and renewable energy. Particular emphasis is placed on exchange processes between the land surface and atmosphere in mountainous environments, including boundary layer dynamics, mountain winds, orographic precipitation, and snow processes under climate variability and change.
The session also welcomes results from recent research initiatives and measurement campaigns, including projects. Researchers working on mountain meteorology and climatology are encouraged to contribute and engage with this active research community.
The deadline for abstract submission is 27 March 2026. Further details on the conference and submission process are available via the official event website.
