'Women, Sustainable Management of Ecosystems and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Andean Region: A Literature Review Geared Towards Policy Formulation' is a webinar supported by CONECTATE-A+.
Women, especially peasant and indigenous women, are fundamental in various processes related to the management of ecosystems, and their role is recognised in supporting the sustainable development of mountain regions. However, in practice, the inclusion of a gender perspective in policies related to the conservation and management of biodiversity and natural resources is not sufficiently addressed. This research focused on identifying, through a bibliographic review, the scientific evidence on the management of terrestrial ecosystems carried out by women in the Andean region, and the most important knowledge gaps. The study found that the positive effects of the management of terrestrial ecosystems by rural women deserve more attention in research and policy formulation so that they are recognized, valued, promoted and sustained.
