More and more people are spending their holidays on their bikes. This presents both opportunities and risks for the Alpine region. At the conference 'MoVe the Alps', experts will discuss how cycling tourism can be promoted in a climate-friendly way. The event will take place online on 22 April 2021.
At the conference, representatives of administrations, tourism destinations, railway companies and associations will present strategies, concepts and projects on cycling tourism. In this way, the ARE would like to promote the exchange between different subject areas and emphasise the importance of good coordination.
The first part of the event will focus on national cycling strategies and their impact on cycling tourism in the Alpine region. Subsequently, the integration of bicycles in the planning of infrastructure projects and the loading of bicycles in public transport will be discussed.
In the afternoon, workshops offer the opportunity to learn more about specific aspects and projects. Afterwards, the participants will engage in the topic of destination marketing and the question of how cycling tourists can be better informed. Changes in the digital sphere will be highlighted in particular.
The conference will take place online from 10 am to 5 pm. The contributions to the main programme will be translated into German, French, Italian, Slovenian and English. The workshop language will be English. Participants should register using the form below. You will receive a link and all necessary information about the conference in advance. Participation is free of charge.
The conference is organised by the Federal Office for Spatial Development ARE with the support of the Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention and the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) in the framework of the Swiss presidency of the Alpine Convention.
