XXIX Argentinean Congress on Ecology
Please note that the official language of this event is Spanish.
Hosted and supported by the Institute of Regional Ecology - directed by MRI Science Leadership Council member Ricardo Grau - and the Argentine Association of Ecology, the Argentinean Congress on Ecology (RAE) brings together ecologists, professionals, and students from different areas related of environmental sciences in Argentina and many other countries, and offers a space to present and discuss the latest scientific advances in ecology.
The 'Anthropocene' defines the current 'era' in which humans dominate the functioning of the ecosystems of the planet. Ecological science has traditionally been more attracted to studying ecosystems where biological evolution tried to become independent from human influence. However, it has gradually come to understand that this is virtually impossible in today's world, and that it must be incorporated into humans as components of all ecological systems.
The motto of this RAE 2020 'Ecosystems of the present, the legacy for the future: from evolutionary biology to Anthropocene ecology' intends to contribute to accelerating this epistemological transition towards a science more relevant to society, and at the same time with methodological challenges and conceptual that require rethinking the discipline.
