MRI November Newsletter briefNovember saw the MRI engaging with many partners, stakeholders, and collaborators, including international scientific networks such as Future Earth and existing and new regional hubs for mountain research.

Fruitful engagement and progress has been achieved in terms of establishing collaborations with international organisations such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and GRID Arendal's Polar and Mountain Environments Programme.

We have also been working with groups such as the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) and the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA) to solidify the ideas, projects, and future engagement that will form part of the work of the MRI with practitioners and civil society in the coming years.

Other key results of our work this month include participation in the steering committees for the 5th Sustainable Summits Conference in 2018 and the International Mountains Conference 2019, which will take place in Innsbruck, Austria, and which follows on the legacy of the Perth mountain conferences in previous years.

Preparations are also well underway for December's MRI Science Leadership Council (SLC) meeting, where the MRI's strategic direction and allocation of key tasks will be discussed. More information about the outcomes of that meeting will be made available in the new year.
