The School of Geography and Sustainable Development at St Andrews is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for 1 year, in the area of numerical modelling of glacier calving.  The position is available from 1 July 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.  

Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. 

The Research Fellow will initiate and conduct research in ecosystem risk assessment, management and conservation. S/he will undertake risk assessments of Australian ecosystems, building on the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems protocol, and undertake scenario analyses to inform the sustainable management of ecosystem services and climate adaptation strategies, with a focus on alpine and sub-alpine ecosystems.

International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). 

The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) seeks to enable sustainable and resilient mountain development for improved and equitable livelihoods through knowledge and regional cooperation.  The Climate Change Adaptation and Governance Analyst will be responsible for integrating climate change adaptation and governance perspectives, concepts, frameworks, methodologies, and action plans into research and development components in different Regional Programmes and Initiatives. 

Faculty of Geo and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Innsbruck, Austria.

The position will be based on a permanent civil-law employment contract with the University (§98 UG 2002).

The successful candidate will hold the position of Society-Environmental Relations in the Alps and other mountain regions, in research and teaching, within the Faculty of Geo and Atmospheric Sciences.

In addition, through a cooperation with the Austrian Academy of Science (ÖAW), it is intended, that the successful candidate will become active in the Institute of Interdisciplinary Mountain Research (IGF) of the ÖAW in Innsbruck, and in due course will likely fulfil the role of Director of the Institute (at the request of the Presidium of the Academy).

Recognizing the need to support and build capacities for regional and global assessment for science-policy processes, the Mountain Research Initiative, University of Zurich, Helvetas, and ICIMOD – in an initiative supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) – have teamed up to launch a call for applications for a mentoring and training program for early career mountain researchers who have an interest in participating in IPCC processes.
