Entry is now open for the Prix de Quervain for Polar and High Altitude Research, an award granted to early career scientists for outstanding achievement in an MA thesis, PhD thesis, or other research project. For 2019, the call is open in the field of natural sciences concerning high altitude research. Deadline 31 May. 

The Prix de Quervain is an annual award funded by the Swiss Committee on Polar and High Altitude Research SKPH, the Commission for the Research Station on Jungfraujoch SKJF, and the Swiss Foundation for Alpine Research. The total prize money is CHF 5,000, which may be awarded as a whole amount or split between prize winners. 

This year, the Prix de Quervain is looking for entrants in the field of altitude research, i.e., topics concerning the high mountains (for example cryosphere research or environmental research) or topics related to this area (such as atmospheric research in the free troposphere, altitude medicine, etc.).

Junior researchers who completed their Masters, PhD, or Post-Doc in Switzerland between July 2017 and April 2019 are eligible to enter. Bachelor theses can not be considered. 

The Prix de Quervain 2019 will be awarded during a symposium in Bern, Switzerland on 7 November, featuring renowned speakers. During this event, the author of the winning MA thesis, PhD thesis, or research project will be given the opportunity to present his or her research results to an interdisciplinary public.

Entry deadline is 31 May 2019.
