Geneva

Why do citizens collaborate? What is their motivation to volunteer? Are they developing a deeper interest and engagement in science?

These and other questions will be at the heart of the Second International European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) Conference 2018, which will take place 3-6 June in Geneva, Switzerland. Submissions for session proposals are open until 10 January 2018.

The International ECSA Conference is aimed at scientists, practitioners, activists, funders, policy makers, non-governmental organizations, artists, and interested citizens in the field of citizen science. The 2018 edition will kick off with a Citizen Science Festival at which participants will be able to explore citizen science projects from all over the world.

The Conference Committee of the Second International ECSA Conference 2018 welcomes session proposals that focus on the role of citizen science in the following areas:

  • Empowering (individual) citizens
  • Social innovation and societal goals
  • Increasing scientific literacy
  • Changing science
