Do you want to increase your knowledge in the fields of agriculture, forestry and conservation biology under global change? Do you want to develop your scientific network and to discuss your research with other PhD students and scientists in a friendly atmosphere on top of a mountain?

The world is changing! Climate change, C02-enrichment, habitat modifications, land-use change and intensification, nitrogen deposition, new species communities – they all have big impacts on ecosystems and put them under pressure. During the workshop participants will identify challenges and also opportunities for forest, agriculture and ecosystems in Switzerland under ongoing and future global changes. The results will be summarized and published in a joint article. Five experts with different backgrounds will guide you through the workshop:

  • Extreme events and forest functioning: Yann Vitasse, Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL
  • The future of sustainable agroecosystems: Sibylle Stöckli, Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL
  • Belowground biodiversity in a changing world: Martin Hartmann, Department of Environmental Systems Sciences, ETH Zurich
  • Global change and conservation: Martin Gossner, Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL; Nicolas Strebel, Swiss Ornithological Institute
