At the „Global Change Research Network for European Mountains“ (GCRN_EM) Meeting on 1-2 February 2007 in Zurich, Switzerland, the 90 participating scientists from 21 countries expressed their expectations (i.e. where to go?) and defined possible tools (i.e. how to get there?) in regard to the emerging science network (renamed to „MRI Europe“).
In short, MRI Europe was defined as an interdisciplinary, purpose-driven network aiming at the implementation of the GLOCHAMOE Research Strategy in European mountains. The network should capitalize on the research capacity and resources in Europe, for instance, by linking scientists, projects and initiatives within Europe.
