Please diarise the above dates for the 2017 AfroMont-Mt Kilimanjaro African Mountain Research meeting, hosted by the Mt Kili research programme based at Moshi.

The venue will be the Uhuru Hotel and Conference Centre, Moshi. It’s a facility run by the Lutheran church and there is a webpage with booking via internet.

Participants need to arrange their own travel and accommodation. There are other hotels in Moshi which we can suggest nearer the time. Details will be finalized during 2016. The suggested conference fee will be 125 US dollar as full fees and 60 USD for students.

The conference theme will be: African mountain ecosystems under global change: Linking biodiversity, biotic interactions and biogeochemical ecosystem processes

Sessions for the research meeting will be

  • Kilimanjaro ecosystems under global change: Linking biodiversity, biotic interactions and biogeochemical ecosystem processes.
  • Tracking change in African mountain ecosystems
  • Linking  biodiversity, biotic interactions and biogeochemical  ecosystem processes
  • Foreign land acquisitions and new land uses in African mountains
  • Making the case for Sustainable Mountain Development – we are particularly looking for case studies on situations that show the use of indicators to track sustainable development in mountain systems.
  • Mountain governance - protected areas, Biospheres and World Heritages Sites  – are they effective or what else is needed 

Conference registration and abstract submission

The conference registration and abstract submission website will be available from 1st August 2016.
The deadline for online abstract submission is 30th November 2016. Please submit abstracts of between 300 - 500 words and a short title (up to 30 words), with all the author names and organization affiliations and email addresses. Please indicate who the presenter and corresponding author is, along with the appropriate email address.

The venue will be at Moshi, Kilimanjaro region, Tanzania.
