MRI’s Science Leadership Council (SLC) is composed of renowned key contributors to research on mountain regions and whose collaboration and expertise are essential for shaping MRI’s strategy and driving forward its vision. With the guidance from and engagement with the MRI Chair Jörg Balsiger, MRI Co-PIs, and the Executive Director, the MRI SLC members for 2020-2021 have been selected and appointed.

We also take the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and commitment extended to the MRI from the former SLC members (2016-2019), whose term ended at the end of 2019. We look forward to staying connected and continuing to strengthen global change research with you on our changing mountains.
Share Your Ideas with the SLC
As part of their terms of reference, the SLC convenes at annual meetings with the MRI Board (Chair and Co-PIs) to exchange on strategic interests, create synergies and collaborations, and coordinate activities that are facilitated by the MRI Coordination Office.
The recently appointed SLC members will convene with the MRI Board and Coordination Office near Geneva on March 4 – 6 during which time they will discuss the direction of MRI’s current and future activities. Input from you, the MRI community, will help shape this meeting and consequently the opportunities and future endeavors of our network, and for you as the mountain research community as a whole.
To help us make the most of the SLC meeting in March, we invite you to share your ideas, thoughts, and suggestions in this quick survey, the outputs of which will be shared and consulted during the meeting itself. We extend a special invitation to Early Career Researchers (ECRs) to share your ideas and express your research and career development needs, so that MRI can better plan for and coordinate future activities for the ECRs network for mountain research (more information forthcoming). We invite your input via this survey by Friday 28 February.
